British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM 2025

The British Council’s Women in STEM Scholarship Programme offers a fantastic opportunity for women from eligible countries to pursue a one-year master’s degree in the UK with full financial support.

Fully Funded Scholarships at Cardiff University

Cardiff University, in collaboration with the British Council, is proud to support this initiative by offering five fully funded scholarships for female students from wider Europe. We are seeking applicants with a background in STEM who require financial assistance and aspire to inspire future generations of women in the field.

Since its launch in 2020, the British Council has awarded over 300 scholarships through this programme in partnership with UK universities and research institutions.

Why More Women in STEM Matters

According to UNESCO, less than 30% of researchers worldwide are women, and only 30% of female students choose STEM-related subjects in higher education. The gender gap is especially noticeable in:

  • Information and Communications Technology: 3%
  • Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Statistics: 5%
  • Engineering, Manufacturing, and Construction: 8%

Increasing female participation in STEM fields enhances diversity, brings fresh perspectives, and strengthens scientific and industrial advancements.
