Study in Canada Scholarships (SICS) 2025 Fully Funded

The Study in Canada Scholarships (SICS) program provides an excellent opportunity for international students to undertake short-term study or research exchanges at Canadian post-secondary institutions. Funded by Global Affairs Canada through the Academic Relations program, this initiative aims to enhance and diversify Canada’s global partnerships and academic collaborations.

SICS promotes international education engagement, strengthening bilateral ties and cultural exchanges between Canada and participating countries. By fostering global academic relationships, the program benefits both students and institutions.

Who Can Apply?

International students from eligible countries who are enrolled full-time in a post-secondary institution can apply. The scholarship covers short-term study or research at a Canadian institution, providing financial support for tuition, travel, and living expenses.

Degree Level

Study in Canada Scholarships 2025-2026 (Fully Funded) are available for international students to pursue Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD programs at Canadian universities.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible Countries/Territories:

  • Asia: Bangladesh, Nepal, Taiwan
  • Europe: Türkiye, Ukraine
  • Middle East & North Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia
  • Sub-Saharan Africa: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda

General Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled full-time at a post-secondary institution in one of the eligible countries.
  • Must be paying tuition fees at the home institution at the time of application and throughout the scholarship period.
  • Must not:
    • Hold or have applied for Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
    • Be currently participating in another Government of Canada-funded scholarship program.
    • Be already enrolled in a degree, diploma, or certificate program at a Canadian institution.

Scholarship Value and Duration

Covered Expenses

  • Visa or study/work permit fees
  • Airfare (most direct and economical route)
  • Health insurance
  • Living expenses (accommodation, utilities, food)
  • Ground transportation (including public transport pass)
  • Study/research materials (excluding computers and equipment)

Institutional Support

Canadian institutions hosting students will receive:

  • $500 per recipient for administrative costs.
  • Reimbursement of additional employer compliance fees (if applicable).

Application Process

Applications must be submitted by Canadian post-secondary institutions on behalf of eligible candidates.

Steps for Canadian Institutions:

  1. Assign a program coordinator.
  2. Register or log in to a My EduCanada account.
  3. Select the Study in Canada Scholarships Program and complete the application form.
  4. Upload required supporting documents (file size <5 MB, formats: .jpg, .gif, .png, .pdf, .doc, .docx, .txt, .xlsx).
  5. Review the application for accuracy and completeness.
  6. Accept the “Declaration and Permission” statement and submit the application.
  7. Save a copy of the submitted application for records.

Selection Criteria

Applications are evaluated based on:

  • Academic merit of the study/research proposal
  • Benefit to the home institution and peers
  • Benefit to the Canadian institution, supervisor, and peers
  • Strength of institutional linkages created through the exchange
  • Institutional rankings of candidates

Priority will be given to candidates who have not previously received an SICS scholarship.

Key Dates

  • Application Deadline: March 18, 2025 (11:59 p.m. EDT) – Canadian institutions must submit applications on behalf of candidates.
  • Notification of Results: Spring 2025 – Successful candidates will be informed by their Canadian institution.
  • Arrival in Canada: Students can arrive between August 1, 2025 – February 1, 2026. Late arrivals may result in scholarship cancellation.

Scholarship Conditions

Selected candidates must:

  • Engage in full-time study or research.
  • Refrain from clinical training or patient-care research.
  • Return to their home institution upon scholarship completion.

Additional Information

  • Scholarships cannot be deferred or renewed.
  • Funds are subject to availability from the Government of Canada.
  • Scholarships are tax-exempt for both recipients and institutions.
  • Applications must be submitted by Canadian institutions; direct applications from students will not be considered.
