Eligibility Criteria:
Academic Background: Applicants must have a strong academic record, typically demonstrated through transcripts or relevant qualifications.
Course Level: Candidates should be applying for a Master’s degree by coursework or research at an Australian university.
English Language Proficiency: Applicants must meet the English language requirements set by the scholarship program, often achieved through tests like IELTS or TOEFL.
Work Experience (Preferred): Demonstrate relevant work experience that aligns with the scholarship’s focus areas.
Leadership Potential: Show leadership qualities and the potential to contribute positively to your community and the ASEAN region.
Alignment with ASEAN Outlook: Be committed to advancing one or more of the four priority areas outlined in the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific: maritime, connectivity, economic development, and the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
No Citizenship Restrictions: Applicants should not be married to, engaged to, or in a de facto relationship with someone holding Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency (exceptions may apply).
Military Service: Candidates should not be currently serving military personnel.
Previous Awards: Applicants should not have received a long-term Australia Award scholarship within the past four years.
Medical Fitness: Candidates must be medically fit to undertake studies in Australia.
Visa Requirements: Applicants must meet Australian immigration requirements for a student visa.
Diversity Focus: Women, people with disabilities, and individuals from marginalized groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

- Citizens from Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand: Citizens from these countries can apply online at Australian Awards Indonesia.
- Citizens from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Vietnam, and Timor Leste: Applicants from these countries should follow the same application procedure as Australia Awards Scholarships 2025 Intake for their respective countries. Selection Criteria:
Following the initial screening, a select group of promising candidates will be shortlisted for further evaluation.
Interview Assessment:
Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview to assess their academic abilities, potential contribution to the ASEAN vision for the Indo-Pacific region, and leadership qualities, including relevant work experience.
Selection Notification:
Successful candidates will be informed of their scholarship award in late 2024.
Pre-departure Requirements:
- Course Advising: Scholarship recipients will participate in course counseling sessions to ensure a smooth academic journey.
- Pre-departure Briefing: A comprehensive pre-departure briefing will provide essential information and preparations for settling in Australia.
- University Orientation: All scholarship recipients will attend the university’s introductory academic program to ease their transition.
- Preparatory Studies: Additional preparatory programs may be required upon arrival in Australia to ensure academic readiness.
