Degree Level:
The FAO-Hungarian Government Scholarship for 2024/25, Hungary (Fully Funded), is available for Master’s level programs at universities in Hungary.
Available Subjects:
The following Master of Science degree courses are offered in English for the academic year 2024–25:
- Master in Environmental Engineering – Sopron University, Sopron
- Master in Crop Production Engineering – Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Szent István Campus, Gödöllő
- Master in Horticultural Engineering – Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Buda Campus, Budapest
Scholarship Benefits:
The scholarship will cover:
- Application and tuition fees throughout the study period with basic books and notes
- Dormitory accommodation
- Subsistence costs
- Health insurance
All costs mentioned above are financed by the Hungarian Government as per the Agreement between FAO and Hungary in 2007. The scholarship covers only student costs; family members are not supported under this program.
Eligible Nationalities:
Residents (who must be nationals) of the following countries are eligible to apply:
Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, North Macedonia, Madagascar, Mali, Myanmar, Republic of Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Namibia, Nigeria, North Korea, Palestine, the Philippines, Republic of Cabo Verde, Serbia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates will be selected based on the following criteria:
- Citizenship and Residency: Must be a citizen and resident of one of the eligible countries.
- Excellent School Achievements: Demonstrated outstanding academic performance.
- English Language Proficiency: Proficient in English for courses taught in the English language.
- Motivation: Strong motivation to pursue the selected course of study.
- Good Health: Must be in good health.
- Age: Candidates under 30 are preferred.
Application Procedure:
The application and selection process for scholarships starting in September 2024 is detailed as follows:
Phase 1: Pre-screening by FAO
- FAO will pre-screen candidates and submit applications to the Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary.
- The Ministry of Agriculture will forward applications to the chosen University, as specified by the applicants.
- Students must submit only complete dossiers; incomplete ones will not be considered.
- Files without names will not be processed.
Phase 2: Examination and University Selection
- Selected candidates may undergo a written or oral English examination as part of the admission procedure.
- The participating University will conduct a further selection process and notify successful candidates directly.
- FAO will not be involved in the University’s selection process.
- The Ministry will notify selected students.
