About the University of Twente Scholarships

The University of Twente Scholarships are designed to attract highly talented international students with excellent academic records. The financial award can be used to cover tuition fees, accommodation, living expenses, or other education-related costs.

Although the scholarship provides substantial financial support, it is not a fully funded scholarship. Applicants should be prepared to finance any remaining expenses during their studies.

Students enrolled in eligible two-year Master’s programmes may continue receiving the scholarship in their second year after meeting the university’s academic performance requirements.

Second-Year Scholarship Requirements

Students must:

  • Achieve an average grade of 7 out of 10
  • Earn at least 50% of the required ECTS credits by the end of the third quartile of the first academic year

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the University of Twente Scholarships, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of a non-EU/EEA country
  • Apply for an eligible Master’s programme at the University of Twente
  • Receive a conditional or unconditional admission offer
  • Obtain a University of Twente student number
  • Start studies during the September intake
  • Meet the English language requirements:
    • IELTS Academic: Overall score of 6.5 with at least 6.0 in Speaking, or
    • TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 90 with at least 20 in Speaking
  • Demonstrate outstanding academic performance, generally ranking within the top 5–10% of their graduating class
  • Meet Dutch visa requirements, where applicable

Who Cannot Apply?

Applicants are not eligible if they:

  • Are EU/EEA or Dutch citizens
  • Are currently studying at the University of Twente
  • Previously graduated from the University of Twente
  • Apply for a Pre-Master’s programme
  • Apply for programmes offered by the ITC Faculty
  • Qualify for Dutch statutory tuition fees
