Applications are now open for the CSRS Graduate Fellowships 2026–2027 at the Centre for Studies in Religion and Society (CSRS), University of Victoria, Canada. Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the CSRS Graduate Fellowships, applicants must:
- Be enrolled in an MA or PhD program at a recognized university.
- Have completed all required coursework.
- Be in the thesis or dissertation writing stage.
- Submit research that aligns with the objectives of the Centre for Studies in Religion and Society.
- Meet all research ethics requirements if the project involves human participants.
Additional requirements include:
- MA students enrolled in one-year programs remain eligible if they are writing a thesis.
- PhD students may receive this fellowship only once.
Required Documents
Applicants must prepare the following documents before submitting their application:
- Completed CSRS Graduate Fellowship Application Form
- Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Academic transcripts (copies are accepted)
- Two recommendation letters, including:
- One from the academic supervisor
- One from another faculty member
Recommendation letters must be sent directly by the referees.

Applications must be submitted by email to csrs@uvic.ca and addressed to Dr. Rachel Brown, Director.
The selection committee will review all applications during December 2025.
Applicants should ensure all required documents are submitted before the deadline to avoid disqualification.

Late or incomplete applications are unlikely to be considered.
Fellowship Conditions
Recipients of the fellowship are expected to actively contribute to the academic community throughout the fellowship period.
Selected fellows must:
- Present at least one public lecture or research seminar.
- Participate in Centre events and academic activities.
- Maintain active engagement with the CSRS research community.
Failure to meet these obligations may result in the fellowship being reviewed or withdrawn.
