Important Points Before Applying

Research Proposal Matters

A strong research proposal aligned with environmental conservation and Post-SDG priorities significantly improves the competitiveness of an application.

Apply Early

Because supervisors often receive many inquiries, contacting potential supervisors several weeks before the nomination deadline is highly recommended.

Do you need help regarding scholarship?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Yes. You may contact multiple professors whose research closely matches your interests. However, send personalized emails and avoid sending identical messages to many supervisors simultaneously.

Your email should briefly introduce yourself, explain your research interests, attach your CV, academic transcripts, and a concise research proposal, and explain why you want to work with that professor.

No. Supervisor approval is only the first stage. Applicants must also pass the university’s internal screening and receive final approval from MEXT.

Although the minimum requirement is 2.30/3.00, applicants with stronger academic records, research publications, conference presentations, or relevant professional experience generally have a better chance of being nominated.

Minor adjustments are usually possible after discussing them with your academic supervisor. However, your research should remain consistent with the objectives of the Environmental Conservation Leadership Program and the proposal submitted during the application process.
