Can I apply before receiving admission to Stanford University?

Yes. However, you must submit both the Stanford graduate program application and the Knight-Hennessy Scholars application separately. Final scholarship selection depends on admission to an eligible Stanford graduate program.

Does the scholarship cover MBA, MD, and Law degrees?

Yes. Eligible graduate programs include MBA, MD, JD, Master’s, PhD, and several joint or dual-degree programs offered by Stanford University.

Is work experience required for the Knight-Hennessy Scholarship?

Work experience is not mandatory for every graduate program. However, applicants with meaningful leadership experience, research achievements, community service, or professional accomplishments often present stronger applications.

What type of leadership experience is considered competitive?

The selection committee values leadership demonstrated through research, entrepreneurship, student organizations, nonprofit work, public service, innovation, or initiatives that create measurable positive impact rather than leadership titles alone.

How can I improve my chances of being selected?

Successful applicants typically combine outstanding academic performance with compelling essays, strong recommendation letters, a clear vision for future impact, and evidence of sustained leadership and community engagement.
